Youth '08 - Setting an Insight on Compatible M'sians

This event attracted youths from many a kind. People at my age are the important assets for the nation. Of course, they are the ones that choose whether to listen or not, spread the message across, show their support in things they believe and of course, the hopes for our future.

The event organizers even come our with innovative agendas to ignite the potential in our youths. There are a series of activities that compel people to showcase their achievements (such as blogging, websites, music, fashion, photography etc). If you think you are not cool, think again!

I must say, it is quite late for me to promote the event to you guys. I had probably assumed that everyone had already get the news first-hand before me. Surf up if you guys feel like digging up this whole rugged idea.

The more I looked at this poster, the more I am at loss of the sense of belonging. Why? Hmmm, to me, the header seems a lil' intimidated with the images of the youth posers. I don't see any Malaysian!!! In case they had trouble shooting pix of anyone of us here, I'm sure our freelance models have their cellphones switched on 24-7.


I thought the whole agenda was focusing on M'sia only, and this made me really confused. I don't want to be a hypocrite with the thought of impersonating the westerners just because we want to show our compatibility. Well, the stubborn aspect of my perspective had long haunt my history; mostly because of my liking in being a proud Asian.


However, the effort of bringing up the future generations to the eye of the world is really fantastic-at least, now our youths had aims in their struggle. Maybe Mat Rempits found their way in promoting their street dance skills instead! Who knows, the Asian way rocks too! (",)


Anyway, I'm so eager to attend this fun and happening thing in PWTC. Heck, I have bundles of work to continue. I bet, if I'm at KL, I'll be hanging out with cool youths out there. So, join in the fun while you still can and brief me about it!

My Uncle Battled With Cancer

I was not prepared to deal with another loss.
But, today, my courage is put to test again.

My family, relatives, friends and I is mourning over the demise of my beloved Uncle Wah today. He succumbed to ENT cancer and fought against it for more than a year now. He's one of those who did not survived the critically attacking cancer cells.

He was a big man but due to the effects of chemotherapy, he lost most of his features - his bulging stomach including his huge appetite, his brownish sleek skin, his bushy hair and his loud charisma. I vividly remembered just how he used to gobble up anything leftover on the dining table whenever we had meals together. When I say he's a big man, I mean BIG. He used to chatter loudly with his nieces and nephews, updating himself with their current upbringing. His favourite past time would be leisure karaoke session with my lovely aunt. He's a big happy man.

It never daunt him that he would end up with cancer and it was difficult for the rest of us to accept the history in the making. His battle drained away his energy but, he was not ready to give in to the fatal disease. He eagerly refused to accept the consequences of his condition and render his livelihood a bitter one.

Uncle Wah was a brave man and he still is. I admire his courage not to give up his life. His determination to live on had lead to many people believing that having cancer is not the end of the world. His effort did not just went silent when he was losing his battle. He opened up our mind and let us see into the other aspects of his suffering. There's still many things to catch up and to do while you still had the chance. My dearest Uncle chose to be a Buddhist devotee and adhere to the rightful teachings of Buddhism. In misery, he sought route to enlighten his shallowness humbly. He showed to the rest of the world not his pain, but how he reasonably dealt with the utterly painful truth.


That's about my Uncle.

"Save the Ocean" - Group writing project

This campaign was first spoken off about a month ago in my blog. Yes, I supposed you guys DID surf up to find out about the noble fun effort too. Did your homework right?? XD

Well, as for me, Pelf was generous enough to post my article on how to "Conserve energy for the seas". You guys might be interested to find out what the Earth has got to do with the Ocean in The Giving Hands. You don't know what you're going to miss!

C'mon people. All you have to do is just CLICK!

Seriously speaking, the ocean is just not a big pool of salt water where life underwater has nothing associated with living beings on Earth. Pssst! Don't be so naive. They are deeply in need of our attention and great understanding of their livelihood.

Issues regarding the ocean nowadays has become a global concern already. It's your fat chance to find out all about it when there are concerned bloggers fighting their way out to convey their environmental concern just for the public.

Go ahead, here is your chance to prove me wrong!

The Turtle Eggs

I captured glimpses of these un-hatched babies during one of the research projects conducted by Haw on heavy metal content in Hawksbill Turtle eggs of Malacca Straits.

What really happened to these eggs from Padang Kemunting Beach, Malacca which happened to be one of the hot spots for turtle nesting? Straits of Malacca is one of the busiest sailing route that entitles a number of ships and boats to pass through leading to accumulating pollution effects.

With global climate on the stake, the condition most optimum for their existence are hence, doubted.

Is this a sign of turtle's extinction in Malaysia?

It is not one or two of these un-hatched turtle eggs showed such heart-wrenching features characteristics, but quite an amount of them.

Not much studies performed on turtle eggs but, I've come to learn that the above phenomenon could be due to the eggs handling method, predation by ants and maggots, environmental factor - i.e. sand conditions, humidity, temperature, nutrient encouraging fungus growth, seawater pollution (heavy metal, hydrocarbon) etc.

So, do you think the turtle eggs are still safe to be consumed?

After all, you don't know what it contains inside......

It is up to you and I to counteract the unnecessary pain they are suffering. With lives at stake, their means of continued existence resumed to our say.

Belated Xmas Sharings

Yes, I know this is terribly late for a back-dated post on Christmas. Well, we are always up to sharing and giving even though the season's over right? Yes, I don't mind being 'thick-faced' about it because the gifts mattered so much to me. Just stroll along with me, ok?

Believe me, those sweet stuffs are still refrigerated for preservation purposes. Have no worries 'bout the expiry dates - I'll knock them [the chocs] off for the new year celebration tonight! We had a bottle of champagne [prohibited], *ehem* sparkling juice in-stored with a splendid home-cooked dinner at home!

Sounds interesting right? Well, that's how we went through our varsity life together.
