In Peninsular Malaysia, Terengganu is located at East Coast exposing the state to wonders of the South China Sea. At this time of the year for every year without fail, there would be the monsoon season in which it is known locally as 'musim tengkujuh'.
It is also a month where we can see people preparing lavishly for the upcoming Monsoon Cup which was held from 28th-2nd Dec. I happened to passed by several government projects which is abandoned (like usual) or, showing slow progress a few weeks back.
Surprisingly, a week ago, while on my way to Kuala Terengganu town, I saw the super-fast amendment of the abandoned and incomplete projects. The row of mosques by the river banks which are only meant for display are set-up nicely; with the crystal mosque brightly lit up at night.
Roads leading to Duyong Island was downed with colourful lights and the roads are super clean. Just a few weeks back, I recall seeing decorations on the streets lamp post dangling down....
Banners and propagandas of the opposition party was hauled off. No doubt, they are fast replaced by the masked political figures vowing to bring more development to the state. Exaggerating their actions by dictating their MEGA projects - TWO huge stadiums built on a piece of once-upon-a-time forest land; indoor and outdoor. Yes, of course. It is rushing for SUKMA 2008 hosted by Terengganu. I wonder, after the major games, do they need the high-maintenance facilities since they have chosen to tore down the state gymnasium? Don't even need to mention about the swimming pool. Let's predict what's going to take place soon.... Ahhhh.... Tax increase!!!
Not to forget, there are the airport expansion projects, highway linkage, 62 mosques around T'ganu, wave breaker in the estuaries, the forever upgrading construction project at the police quarters, allowing the intrusion of investors, digging up the street banks again and again, cutting up more trees to give way to skyscrapers......
Clearing lands... deforestation... tearing sky-high trees... flooding and river run-off because of the effects of depleting soil-detaining roots... pollution in Terengganu waters... sand mining in Setiu... habitat destruction of animals in wild... egg poaches... extinction of marine mammals (Leatherback Turtles in Rantau Abang)... extensive exploitation of islands off the waters for tourism... development taking place without considering long term damage... consuming Earth's resources greedily... contributing hugely towards greenhouse gases production...

Hasn't the damage done enough harm to this state? What more to rob of its natural realms?
Well, they have even use Visit Terengganu 2008 to fool the citizens of the advancement they proclaimed. Yes, foreigners coming in = MONEY, but only for a short term if it goes unplanned like many other government big-headed thinking. Nothing under the supervision of the government goes as plan or are even sustainable under long period of time. Monsoon Cup is just to offset any ill-minded perceptions towards the influential government. As if to advertise an idiosyncratic shallow-minded community dominating the country. Just so it seems in my blog. It is masked to illustrate the impact of money-eating agenda.

Realize your value and your rights before it is exorcised for bad right in front of you. Malaysians have yet to achieve the lifestyle of what other developed countries have achieved.
We are still developing as a poor-resource-sustainable nation.
