Disastrous September
Manila Typhoon Ketsana. Padang, Sumatra 7.7-magnitude earthquake. American Samoa earthquake tsunami. Storm hits and landslides in Vietnam, Cambodia.
Mid September kicked started abruptly with some sprinkle of rain and strong wind in the capital of Phillipines. The rain gradually picked up as monstrous wind carrying storm hit Manila and instantly forced the country into a state of calamity as claimed. Typhoon Ketsana swept the countrymen off their grounds and left them to struggle for life, until now. Deaths are still mounting up.
The storm travelled west and demonstrated its supremacy on Cambodia and Vietnam. The typhoon continued to rain floods and destroy houses while uprooting the soils. Deaths ensued.
American Samoa is almost flattened out by a tsunami triggered by 8.0-8.3 magnitude quake. The island remains in chaos and the damage is extensive. More than 90 people have been confirmed dead and the official number is still rising.
History repeats itself in Sumatra after 5 years of silence. The Pacific Ring of Fire reigns it's absolute power once again with a magnitude of 7.7 on Ritcher scale on the south of the island. Indonesia, is once again put to test after the devastating Tsunami in 2004. The earthquake rocked little Padang and show no mercy eventhough a tsunami was not in the picture. More deaths are recorded as people are believed to be trapped under piles of fallen concrete buildings and structures.

The quake force a tremor to be felt in high rise buildings throughout Malaysia. Tension arised.

Snatch thieves
The headline featured in TheStarOnline reminded me of the latest on the scene that happened right in front of my eyes. My mum and her friend just got into their car outside my house. I was sitting on the front porch with Coffee, when suddenly I heard a roaring motorcycle outside the gate. I turned my back just to witness a thief with a sharp pointed knife banging on their car parked outside. Both mum and friend was trapped inside, luckily mum's instincts told her to lock the door. That thief has got a 'look-to-kill' kind of expression.
I was frantically shouting for help and my sisters ran out shouting as well. But, that was not enough to stop the most determined thief. He never even paused for a second, but keep pounding on the helpless folks in the car. Mum was too blur and frozen to make another move. The rider standby on the side of the car, prepared for escape. Only until my brother-in-law rushed out with keys, the thieves gave up and rode off.
The pillion thief climb steadily onto the bike, and paused to look at us before speeding off. The criminal stare continued until he lost sight of us....
His intention was real, to snatch with grievous hurt.
Life seems so fragile at this instance. I wonder what gave them the outstanding courage and bravery to 'perform' crime?
Though the moment was frantic, it is really important to remain sane and functional. My utmost concern was my mum and her friend's safety. But, there was nothing I can do. We called police, in the end, the feedback was as simple as rubbish and inefficiency. They wouldn't care more if there's nothing stolen and nobody was hurt. They do not even want to patrol the area.
At times like these, we should always be reminded to take good care of ourselves and our belongings. In Malaysia, it is not really that safe.
